Patmos is a barren island without fresh water but still beautiful. Christians consider it a holy island as St John is believed to have written the Apocalypse in a cave below today’s monastery of St John the Theologian. The Chora surrounds the monastery which can be seen from all over the island. Skala is the village at sea level where big and small ferries come in. There is no airport on the island.
